SATYAJIT RAY CENTRE’ INAUGURATED IN S.R.R. GOVT. DEGREE COLLEGE


    To spread good cinema cultures in college students, the Principal of S.R.R.Govt. Degree College, Karimnagar announced the inauguration of ‘Satyajit Ray Centre’ and constituted a committee to arrange film screenings and supervise its other activities.
    Dr.C.Vijaya Kumar, Principal said that to develop good culture and attitude among students the films are good media. Not only viewing of film students must learn review them also. He inaugurated the one day film society workshop conducted by Mr. Varala Anand on 28 January 2009
Organized by Asian Film Foundation and FFSI.
    Dr. B. Madhusudan Reddy, Reader in Chemistry and NCC Captain said that films are not only intended for entertainment they are also for enlightenment. He urged the students to make a habit of viewing good cinema.

    Dr.S.Manohara Chary, College NSS Coordinator said that starting a film club in the college is a good sign and the NSS wing of the college will cooperate in every aspect of the programme.

    Mr.Varala Anand presented a full length PowerPoint presentation on “The birth and Evolution of Cinema and Film Society Movement”. He used the film strips of early day’s films and introduced the world cinema scenario. He further enunciated the importance of the film societies and elaborated the history of FFSI.

    The staff and students were impressed very much by the lecture and loved to see the film ‘children of heaven ‘. A total of 63 students participated in the workshop.

    The one day seminar was concluded by the vote of thanks by  Dr.T.Damodara Swamy a commerce faculty member.
