GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN,BEGUMPET, HYDERABAD


    ‘Value based and interesting cinema should be made available to the students’ opined by the incharge Principal Dr.Venkanna,  while inaugurating  the one day workshop on “Birth and Evolution of Cinema & Film Society Movement” organized by the Asian Film Foundation and FFSI with the support of HIVOS, in the Govt Degree college for women ,Begumpet , Hyderabad.
    The workshop was conducted by Varala Anand on 7th February 2009 and was chaired by the Lecturer in Library Science Mr. A.Rajender.
    While inaugurating the 70 plus students participated Workshop, Dr.Venkanna said that the Indian Cinema has changed its face by the films of Satyajit Ray and attained an international stature. But that genre is fading out of the reach from the young minds. So he stressed to take efforts to bridge the gap between good cinema and students.
     Mr.A.Rajender, Lecturer in Library Science initiated the discussion in the workshop and welcome the students response

     Students participating shown much interest to know about cinema and its history and development.
    Mr.Varala Anand explained to the participants by the PowerPoint presentation about the thoughts of Nehru in formulating the film policy in India and the birth and evolution of Film Societies under the leadership of Late Satyajit Ray and others.

    Later the films MaaVooru, Akruthi etc. were screened and discussed
